HANON x Mizuno Nagoya Grampus '93 Track Jacket

Throughout the year, Mizuno have teamed up with J-League side Nagoya Grampus to drop a series of capsule collections which paid homage to the club’s iconic ‘93 jersey, and before the final whistle blows on the project, HANON step up to the spot to put their spin on it.

The team’s name was derived from the two most prominent symbols of Nagoya: the two golden Grampus dolphins on the top of Nagoya Castle, and the Maru-Hachi (Circle eight), the city’s official symbol. Nagoya Grampus’ matchday mascot is also a Grampus dolphin, and for our HANON iteration of the ‘93 jersey, we honour its legacy.

Also known as the Risso’s dolphin, this species can be seen off the coast in Scotland and has a distinctive grey body characterised by its unique ‘scored’ markings which appear over time.

To complement our ‘93 Jersey, we have also reworked Nagoya’s ‘93 Track Jacket which features the same iconic geometric design as the original. Taking the same elements from the jersey, we’ve applied a dark grey base with light grey markings to the top half, contrasted by a black bottom half. The track jacket features a full-length metal zip, two side pockets, ribbed collar and cuffs, and branding details remain the same, except the Nagoya Grampus Eight logo which is applied to the right sleeve.

The online raffle for the HANON x Mizuno Nagoya Grampus '93 Track Jacket will be live until Friday 5th November at 12:00GMT.

Nagoya Grampus Eight History

In the golden age of football shirt design that was the ‘90s, Mizuno’s Japanese efforts were bespoke beauties that were way ahead of their time, and for the league’s inaugural campaign, Mizuno produced kits for all 10 teams.

Nagoya Grampus Eight (or Nagoya Grampus, since 2008): a club with a rich Japanese footballing culture and one of ten founding clubs of the Japanese professional football era which begun in 1993. Prior to winning the J1-League in 2010, Nagoya’s most successful season was under the tutelage of the then unknown, Arsène Wenger in 1995.
