adidas EQT Race Walk x Hanon "Working Men's Club"
This November, we celebrate the 30th anniversary of the iconic adidas Equipment line with a collaborative take on the EQT Race Walk; a never-before reissued model from the 1st generation of Equipment, released in 1991.
Inspired by British Working Men’s Clubs of the ‘90s and the strong sense of nostalgia that often goes with them, the HANON EQT Race Walk leans into these cultural institutions for inspiration. Typically, each one includes a bar area, an additional function room, snooker and pool tables, a dartboard, and usually a small stage to offer live entertainment, such as bingo or cabaret. They are still around today, but sadly in decline, and the existing ones often feel like a time capsule to a bygone era. From the classic pub carpet to the ’70s styling and the disco lights, the clubs retain a charm and character that offer an insight into something uniquely British.
As a nod to the often jarring interior décor of these drinking establishments – think garishly patterned carpets and dark wood table surfaces – our take on the shoe sees a blend of rich brown corduroy and suede uppers contrasted with pop colour detailing. Originally built for race walking, the model features a lightweight construction with a die-cut EVA midsole and gum rubber outsole.
As per our ZX420 collaboration from last year, we switched out the traditional straight-edged nylon Three Stripes for a serrated application in a vibrant orange suede. Further details include a woven branded tongue label, embroidered branding on the heels, and finally, dual branding is applied to our pub carpet inspired footbed.
The ‘Working Men’s Club’ EQT Race Walk will be offered only by HANON via an ONLINE RAFFLE which will be live until Friday 12th November 12:00GMT. Each pair will come complete with a set of stickers, two branded coasters, four lace sets and an OG EQT inspired box.
